All
who know me know that I have to do things a little differently.
And since God made me such a science and nature lovin' individual,
I thought it would be fun to share my relationship
with God and the haunting questions he's answered for me through
my own
scientific observations I've made over the
last four decades of personal research of this incredible
world.
I
actually started my college years with the goal of getting
into marine biology and perhaps studying orcas or the "whale
killers." Even back then I was fascinated by the fact
dolphins were such relational animals. But I also came to the
conclusion that a career in marine science would
have
greatly
affected
another
thing
I held dear,
human relationships. So, I chose the restaurant
hospitality industry
instead
but
I never
lost
my
love of studying
the living world from a scientific angle. I still love studying;
biology, geology and many other disciplines too numerous to
mention
but I also enjoy history and one of my biggest curiosities
in life
is the general theory of evolution. I've spent quite
a bit of time trying to understand how this
set of
ideas
got such a firm hold in the current scientific community.
I thank people like Richard Dawkins ("...Darwin made it
possible to be an intellectually fulfilled atheist")
who are so adamant about their beliefs
because
it forced
me
to
search
out ways to be able to give people an intelligent reason for
mine own.
So
in a sense, I can say, "Dawkins, made it possible to
be an intellectually fulfilled Christian.
As
I said I also enjoy history. There are some who say the Bible
is an outdated mythological book and certainly can't be trusted
for it's historical record. I disagree and one of the greatest
ways I've found to experience what God has
to say about history is to read his word chronologically.
Six times my wife and I
spent
an entire year, beginning each morning reading from a One Year
Chronological Bible. I learn something new every
time we do it.
Although there are some pretty dry spots, especially
in Numbers, Leviticus and a few others, the little gems to
be found there are sometimes more enlightening than the obvious
ones from some of the other books. You can find numerous
translations. My favorite from a history point of view is the
New Living
Translation but I like reading a different version every once
in a while, that way it's always new. They have APPs and more
at The
Blue Letter Bible ;
I'm
in the process of attempting to put together a chronological
bible to share online, and with it, personal
notes on some favorite subjects; history, science,
and prophecy!
In
the meantime:
Not
so much scientific but all together true...
The story that started my raven escapades was actually a living
sermon where God "spoke"
through a relationship with and adult crow named Bob and
a baby raven named Huey. Over time God answered three questions
I had asked. If "Noah's Flood" is a true story (and I now
believe it is);
"What
were the animals like before the flood?"
"What changed it?"
"What
will it (man's relationship with animals) be like
in the future?"
"Bob,
Huey & Me"
can
be read online right here in PDF format!
Bob,
Huey & Me was originally done as a gift to
our nieces and nephews.
It is a story for "kids" of all ages who enjoy animals that
play and love people!
"Bob,
Huey & Me"
is also a movie short available online or
DVD.
The book may be purchased at an online e-store called
CreateSpace (red link) or
at Amazon.com (blue link).

And
if you're one of those who think's science and the Bible
don't mix, here's an interesting quote;
"Although I know of no reference to Christ ever commenting on scientific
work, I do know that He said, Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall
make you free. Thus I am certain that, were He among us today, Christ would
encourage scientific research as modern mans most noble striving to comprehend
and admire His Fathers handiwork. The universe as revealed through scientific
inquiry is the living witness that God has indeed been at work." Wernher
von Braun, rocket pioneer, 1976.
